“Entre Colores, Recuerdos y Sabores” A perspective of over a decade and a half of diaspora through colors, memories and foods.

Living in Oxnard, CA since 2004, José Galván Martínez immigrated from Mexico City. Forward 18 years later, this exhibition touches on alienation, homesickness, nostalgia that comes from his experiences living as an illegal immigrant in the US.

 

This exhibit features a ceramic wall installation, ceramic sculptures, paintings, prints and mixed-media work the body of work on display was executed over a period of 4 years.

 

This exhibit is intended as insight into the emotions that come with diaspora, conveying humanity, traumas, griefs, and vulnerabilities, while also welcoming the audience into snippets of Galván Martínez’s upbringing, experiences, background, and Culture through imagery, colors, patterns and foods.

 

The exhibit opens Friday April 1st, 2022 with an opening reception at 643 Project Space from 6 PM- 9PM and will run until the end of April at 643 Project Space, 643 N. Ventura Ave. Ventura, CA 93001.
